Spring yard work...

With all of our nice weather lately, we've been itching to get outside and play. Mommy has a huge list of things to accomplish before the baby arrives so my work becomes everyone's play these days.

We began the first of our seeds in the house. The boys enjoyed checking their progress daily. I can't believe how quickly they popped out of the dirt. Before we knew it they were 5 inches tall.

Last week we had 5 yards of mulch delivered. Dylan was a HUGE help in spreading it in the flowerbeds. He LOVED filling the box on the wagon and pulling it across the yard. The best part was pushing the box off the wagon and laughing his head off because it spilled everywhere. Little did he know this was exactly what Mommy wanted to happen. He really wasn't making a mess, but I won't tell him that! We have kid sized garden tools so he was able to help with the raking to spred things out too. I won't lie and say that I didn't shovel, but I didn't do more than I could handle. We took our time and got it all spread by the weekend. It was a job long overdue and we're glad to have it completed. I can check it off of my "nesting" list now!!!

Saturday brought more HOT weather and tons to do. Literally tons of manure to shovel! You can see the pile in the background of the picture. John was able to go work out with the guys from church, but came home to a huge pile of POOP. I had manure delivered to spread on the garden. Again, we worked hard, all 4 of us, to get it done. John was able to get it all tilled in so we have nice, fluffy, and rich growing soil! Mommy got a pretty good sunburn and Daddy a pretty good tan. They're calling for some random temperatures these next few weeks so we're torn about when to plant the actual plants, but we're thinking sooner rather than later. We'll just have to be careful about covering them if we get frost.
