From small beginnings...

We are hoping to reap HUGE results with this years garden. We've quadrupled it in size from last year and are hoping to keep it well-groomed with our new tiller. Our plans are to put in tomatoes (grape, cherry, roma, and beefsteak), bell peppers, green onions, romaine lettuce, sugar snap peas, green beans, eggplant, cucumbers, beets, squash, zucchini, watermelon, and cantalope!!! Pretty lofty goals for having a new baby in the house, but we are hoping to feed the family for most of the year with what we grow. We might have to invest in some kind of canning aparatus or purchase an upright freezer. We'll see how it goes.

That's my blue chair there where I supervised since I was not allowed to run the tiller. I am the one who loves to garden so this is my "baby". Thanks to John for helping with (really doing) all the work to make sure it is a success this year.

We still have plans to add a couple of loads of compost to soften the soil. We will also have to hit up a local farmer for some manure. Plants should go in mid to end of this month.

Other plans include starting a blueberry crop at the back of our property. Grandma and Grandpa Krol may give us some runners from their blackberries to plant at our tree line too. John is also on the mission to begin a grape arbor!!! Pretty soon we'll be overrun with fresh fruits and veggies!!!

I guess now we just have to figure out how to contain some chickens and a few cows!!! Just kidding. Our neighbors would run us out of town!!!

For now, we aren't thinking of gardening... We're planning on having a snow storm tonight!!! Can you believe??? Snow in March in NC???? What's up with that???
