Two quick stories from this week...

While  playing outside, Gavin cut the heel of his foot trying to ride Dylan's bike.  Just in case you are thinking that this might be dangerous...He has done this many times so it's no challenge for him most of the time.  Anyways, he was pretty freaked out about seeing all the blood.  Braxton jumped right to the scene to help make him feel better.  I carried Gavin inside and got his heel all cleaned up.  We put a bandage on it and tucked him comfortably in on the leather chair in the living room.  By this time, Braxton had developed a sympathy sore on his foot as well.  He was limping around crying "ouie".  It was so precious.  I put a band-aid on his heel too and he snuggled in next to Gavin on the chair.  Such a sweet little brother.  In the meantime, Dylan and Jordan were off collecting books that they could read to their brother while he was laid up on the chair.  He was back to new in no time once they all got him giggling and thinking of something different.  It hasn't slowed him down a bit.

AND

Yesterday I took the boys on a mystery trip.  It was a nice temperature so we decided to go blueberry picking.  We swung through the bank (don't forget the suckers!).  Headed back toward home and made the detour to our nearby blueberry farm.  We picked a big bucket of berries and the boys got to jump in the bounce house.  I think they liked that the best.
On the way home, Dylan was asking if I could take them to Monkey Joes sometime.  I told them that it is really expensive and since we have so many kids I didn't think we'd be going there anymore.  Dylan and Jordan began developing a plan to make money around the neighborhood so they could go to Money Joes.  They determined that they were "strong boys" and could "do some hard jobs" for our neighbors.  Surely they would be willing to pay them a small fee for a few tasks.  Here is what they came up with...
  • replacing roof shingles   $100
  • mowing grass   $10  (Jordan piped up and added...If they let me drive their John Deere tractor then we will do it for free!)
  • taking out trash   $1
  • painting house   $40
Thought it was so cute.  As soon as I pulled in the driveway I had to write it down so I wouldn't forget.
