I am going through some serious "nesting" though. Everyone just laughs when I tell them all that we are doing to get ready and we still have 7 weeks to go!
- Even though it is only February, we have the garden tilled and ready to plant!!! This baby comes right at the time when we usually put our plants in so we are trying to stay on top of things so we don't miss out on the growing season.
- Of course, the room has been reorganized for several weeks now. The neutral baby clothes have been washed and in the drawers. One new thing we will be adding to the nursery is a new chair that Grandpa Devers got us. Since I've used my other one everyday for 3 1/2 years, it's pretty shot. So, I'm pretty anxious to get it together and in place.
- We've pre-registered with our hospital and went on our tour last Monday. The boys were able to go with us to see where Mommy will go to "get the baby taken out". It was a little confusing to Dylan why we were going the other day, but we were able to explain that it was not time yet.
- We have a paper chain on the mantle of how many days we have to go. It seems to be disappearing rather quickly. We are hoping to make it to the 38 week mark and go into natural labor before John's spring break. :o)
- I've rearranged the carseats in the van to accomodate another little one. The boys love sitting next to each other and they are pretty good about sharing toys while I'm driving. So, I kept them both on the very back seat. The baby will be in the middle row in front of Jordan on the passenger side.
- My next project is to get the carseat and swing down from the attic (John will do this, not me.) and get the covers washed.
- I have been cleaning like a crazy lady. My baseboard in the kitchen have been scrubbed and are ready for a fresh new coat of white paint.
- We've already made the decision that we will donate the cord blood after birth. We figured, if it can help someone else, why throw it away. (Click here for more info. Cord Blood Donation)
The boys are ready for the baby to come too...
- Dylan keeps telling us that he wants another brother just like Jordan. He actually wants another Jordan. Says we can name him Jordan too. They play so well together that I can image why he would fell this way. He's been a good helper lately too. I've been explaining to him how things might change a little when Mommy has to be feeding all the time and will need his help. So, he's taken it upon himself to help out. He cleans up his own dishes from the table, often carries the dirty laundry from the bedrooms to the laundry room, and recently started putting on Jordan's coat for him and zipping it up! What a great big brother.
- Jordan is a little quieter about his understanding of our coming changes. He still isn't talking much. He knows there is a baby in Mommy's belly though. He loves to snuggle and cuddle with me while we roleplay with our Cabbage Patch doll. He even got some real life practice lately. Our neighbor just had a little girl. We were down playing at their house and Mommy was doing some baby holding. When we first got to their house, the baby was sleeping in the pack n play in the living room. For the longest time, Jordan just stood there at the edge watching her. He kept turning around to me and telling me "baby". Then, he actually went and got Dylan's hand and drug him over to show him the "baby". Then, he took the big sister. It was so cute. When Mommy was holding her he was right there next to me watching her every move. He was really gentle and interested. I know he will do fine when our little one arrives.
Tomorrow is my next dr. apt. I will hopefully be getting some more information on the sugar issue. I have been following the diet pretty closely the past 2 weeks so I am hoping that it will be under control. I do have to admit that prior to the last test I was eating lots of sugar and "comfort foods". That is kind of what got me out of the morning sickness slump. So, mashed potatoes, pasta, rice, and bread were include in each weekly meal plan. We've had to be pretty creative in our planning now since we are on a rather tight budget. The Lord provided at just the right time though. We were able to secure 2 new tutoring students that have more than made up the difference.
Here are a few of my 33 week belly pictures. I think I've seen proof lately that babies do grow overnight. I didn't get any stretch marks with Dylan and just a few from Jordan. This baby seems to be growing in leaps and bounds lately. Just the other night I noticed a few more pop out on my belly. (I know...too much info...) I guess I'll have to throw out the dreams of ever wearing a bikini!!! Those of you who know me know that was never even in the plans! Anyways, here they are...
