The other night I decided to take Dylan out for a little Mommy time. We ventured out to Toys R Us to exchange a toy car that we had purchased a few weeks ago. When we were at the store several weeks ago, Dylan was able to play with the GeoTrax display in the train isle and was looking forward to seeing it again. He kept telling me that he was going to play with GeoTrax!!! He was so excited. (Oh the simple things in life!)
After our adventure in and out of the store Dylan was talking my ear off all the way home. He was telling me about his trains and toys. I reminded him, as we do often, that everything that we have is from God. He provides it all for us and we need to be sure to say thank you. I told him that not all kids have toys like he and Jordan do. I think this blew his little mind. He immediately told me that we will have to give them some toys then! (Except he was not willing to part with his trains and airplanes! He was sure to tell me that!)
We proceeded to drive home. When we turned on our street he started to tell me that he was going to build a big house like ours when he gets bigger and bigger. Again I reminded him that our house is another gift from God. He paused for a few minutes and asked about a family that lives down the street from us. Their house burned down a few weeks ago. We drive by it everytime we go out somewhere. I didn't realize he even paid much attention to it until now. He asked where that family lived since their house burned down. He said that God should give them a new house since they don't have one. What he did next about brought tears to my eyes!!! He stopped talking and I looked back to him in the backseat of the car. He folded his little hands and said "Dear Jesus. The family doesn't have a house because it burnt down. Can you give them a new one? In Jesus name. Amen"
I just had to blog about my sweet boy because I know that one day I would want to remember this sweet memory.
