Long time gone...

Sorry to all of our blog readers looking for updates on the kids. :o) Are there any of you out there???

Lots has been happening here with us and the kids.

To begin with, we took a weekend away from home for Labor Day. We met up with Grandpa Devers over in Asheboro, NC. He came up from Alabama to visit for the week. We camped for the weekend and were able to visit the zoo and aviation museum. Let me tell you that going to an air museum with Grandpa is more enlightening than wandering around with no explanation of what we were looking at. It was a GREAT TIME. While camping we spent our evening collecting sticks on the "mountain goat hill", sitting around the campfire, and eating smores.

This is the kind of car Grandpa rode in when he was a boy.

After our camping trip, we all headed home to our place. Grandpa came to stay for the rest of the week. We walked, visited, sat out under his camper awning in our camp chairs, and just enjoyed time together. Their favorite thing for Pappy to do though was read to them. They love books. The kids LOVED having "Pappy" here.

Dylan's pretending he's an animal in a cage. Sometimes I think he is (without the cage of course)!!!

Dylan and Jordan kept fighting over the little blue chair that Grandpa brought with him. Dylan thought it was his, but Jordan insisted that he take his turn too.
When the morning came for Grandpa to leave, Dylan got up really early. We peaked out to see if the truck was still here. Our lucky day... it was. He decided that he wanted to go outside and watch Grandpa pack up and pull away in his big truck. So, we went out in our PJs and sat on our camping chairs in the driveway around 6:15am. When Grandpa opened the door to his truck, Dylan climbed in and buckled himself in the passenger seat. He wanted to go for a ride in Pappy's truck. Grandpa let him ride along as he pulled to the end of the driveway. He's still talking about getting to ride in Grandpa's truck!!!

Some memories for the bank (and proof they are growing up)...
  • Jordan is becoming a feisty little guy. He lets you know when he wants something by clenching his eyes shut and letting out a grunting yell. We are working on the sign language, but he is so stubborn. I think he will be the one to give us a run for our money.
  • A new tooth has emerged. Finally, an "I" tooth! The others are on their way.
  • Jordan is just about walking completely. He loves his new freedom. He's still a little unstable, but making progress everyday. Dylan just LOVES it.

  • The boys have begun their wrestling matches already. Dylan will lay on the floor and Jordan heads over for the tackle. It's so cute. I'll have to catch it on video.
  • The playhouse/puppet theatre that I bought a while back is a hit now. The kids are in and out of it 1000 times a day.

  • Dylan wants to "play school" everyday now. He is learning his letters and sounds. He's pretty interested and can't wait to go to "big boy school" one day. Mommy could stand to wait a few years.
  • Oh, and Jordan is going to be a big brother in April. We are still pretty early along, but all signs show that things are going well. Mommy is pretty sick most of the days. Here's our ticker showing Baby Boo's development. :o)
